Phase One

The first concern with finishing our basement is space. Our basement is very small and FULL of storage. If we are going to have any living space down there, we have to find a spot for all of our storage. The solution: to knock a hole through the cement wall to create an opening into our huge crawl space. This space has about 4 foot ceilings and is large enough to store all of our stuff. We called around and found a company that would come out and saw a hole into our wall. In a couple short hours, they were finished and we had access to part of our house that has never been used before. To save a few bucks, we had the guys leave the cement slab

The Time Has Come

Well the time has come for the DeMoss Family to expand their living space. We have decided to finish our basement. Yes, this sounds like an easy task. For most people, you interview a few contractors, decide on a plan, and write the checks. No folks, not for us. For us we have decided to tackle this project on our own. Our team includes a very well read and handy husband, a supportive and money tight wife, and three eager to help (get in the way) daughters. We have decided to blog this experience for several reasons- to keep our family and friends up to date with our progress, to share our experiences with others who may want to take on this task, and to help journal our experiences for ourselves. Welcome to the start of our journey...
